A very interesting appliqué from Prymnessos (?)
Lot 2216
PHRYGIA. Prymnessus (?). Uniface Appliqué (Bronze, 12x17 mm, 1.88 g), Ioulios Proklos, magistrate. Time of Nero, circa 60s AD. ЄΠI - IOY/Λ-OY / ΠΟO-KΛOY Draped bust of Mên on crescent to right, wearing Phrygian cap. Rev. Blank. Very fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.

The attribution of this unusual piece to Prymnessos is based on the name of the magistrate, Ioulios Proklos, who is likely identical with the Tiberios Ioulios Proklos signing coins in the 60s AD under Nero (RPC I 3207-3208)
